Killer morning habit: Drink water on an empty stomach

Drinking water is one of the best things you can so for your body! The Japanese tend to live longer than other cultures and chronic disease tends to be lower among them than in the rest of the world. I’m not saying water therapy is the ONLY reason but hey, it’s a FREE and easy way to make a positive change in your routine without spending any money! A lot of people might go straight to coffee or food as soon as they wake up but its actually NOT the right thing to do. Dehydration doesn’t necessarily mean you’re feeling lightheaded and thirsty. Dehydration simply means the body isn’t getting the water it needs to run to its fullest. We all wake up dehydrated after sleeping and energy drinks and caffeine only lead to further dehydration. Long term this can lead to arthritis, kidney stones, obesity and numerous other health implications. As soon as you wake up to get into the habit of drinking at least 2 glasses of water (work your way up to 4 glasses). Do this before brushing so the water is not contaminated with fluoride and then wait 30 min before having breakfast.  You’ll be shocked how much more energy you have throughout the day with this simple hack. On top of increased energy levels, water tends to fill you up which can lead to decreased portion sizes at breakfast and smarter food choices for the rest of the day. Water also purifies the colon making it easier to absorb nutrients so you’ll feel less hungry and your cravings will be reduced which can help prevent weight gain. If you suffer from constipation or have trouble going to the bathroom this will also help keep you regular as the fluids promote an early bowel movement. Water is not a miracle cure but it is, however, a very vital part to your physical health and well being. Simply put, take care of your body, keep it hydrated and active, and it will work wonders for your health!
